TIRAU.
The Tirau-Putaruru road is now being graded and sanded from the corner where it turns oil' from the Rotorua Road to Avithin about half a mile of the Taumangi Station Road. The work has been commenced at the far end from Tivau, and as yet only a small portion has been done. The improvement Avhen the Avork is completed will be an appreciated one, Mr. Toogood, of Wellington, the owner of the Monona Estate, Tirau* this.week completed the purchase of Mrs. Judd’s property, comprising a four-room house and three acres of land adjoining the estate. It is understood that the price paid* was about £BOO, and that Mr. Toogood purposes to make this house the homestead for the section on the Momona Estate adjoining it. Mrs. Judd left Tirau a day or lavo ago to take up her residence in Christchurch. There is some talk of a bachelors’ ball being held at Tirau this month, but it is understood that the matter has not yet reached a very definite stage.
