HOTEL IMPROVEMENTS.

Since becoming lessee of the Mountaineer Hotel, Mr J. W. Kelly, has canned out several important _ structural alterations such as to bring the house into line with the best hostel* ries in the country districts and equal to. if not better than, many city hotels. In order to provide for the reorganisation of the apartments in the front of the building a long commercial room together with the entrance hall on the Beach street side were cut out. This made room for a spacious public bar room, I'Sft by 15 feet and house bar fitted with circular counters and all modern equipment. The entrance to the hotel is through a vestibule on the Bees St. side and behind swing doors is the office or private apartment which is comfortably furnished. The Ladies room has been turned into a modem lounge carpeted with rich axmmster floral and green flooring and furnished with a modern plain green moouette suite and occasional chairs to match the carpet. The curtains tone with the furnishings. The dining room has also been remodelled and quite receutly our enterprising draper, Mr A. H Wheatley, put down a handsome axminster rust two-tone carpet to the order of the proprietor. This, together with well-furnished tables., sufficient to cater for fifty persons, give the room a very attractive appearance. The panelling in the mam rooms are of veneer oak, which give them a rich and disrnified appearance. The remainder of the hotel has also received attention and presents a cleanliness which would appeal to the most sensitive taste. The lessee deserves well for his enterprise.
