As in other parts of the province, condition,& this winter have been exceptionally mi lid at the Homer tunnel, and good progress'has been made with the work. The drilling of the tunnel preparatory to shot-friing for the enlargement of the tunnel to the full width of 21 feet has been proceeding steadily Throughout the winter, and several months more will: be spent on this work. A power shovel has been at the eastern end of the tunnel for some time and this will be brought into use when the shot-firing begins. It is expected that when all the equipment is assembled at the tunnel the enlargement will proceed at a rapid pace. It.is probable that shots covering a distance of about 3,oft will be fired daily and the spoil willl be loaded on to the spoil trucks and removed through the lower end of the tunnel.

Another cheque for £125(0 from the Masonic Grand Lodge of New Zealand has been received by the National Patriotic Kund Board. This makes a total donation of £25*00 from the Grand Lodge to the Patriotic Fund.
