(From the files of the L.W. Mail.) D. Powell and Co. report having sold, since our last publication, the steamer ‘Wakatip’ and sundry gear tor the sum of £79 10s; also a mob of mixed cattle. The prices realised were for dairy cows £5 to £6 10s, steers and heifers at au average of over £3 per head. The auctioneers request us fo draw attention to their sale of cattle at Franktou on Saturday next. * * * * * Mr E-ewes, the district engineer, returned to Queenstown about a week since, after-making a preliminary survey of the line far the Lake Harris track, and on Thursday Mr John Me Bride, with a party of six men, proceeded in the Antirim steamer, for „ne purpose of completing the track without delay. At e understand it has been recommended that some men should be put on at the end, to meet the partv on this side. ***** The prospectus of another Company, the Arrow River United Gold Mining Company, Limited, has been issued, the capital to be £9.000 iu as many sha res-, 6000 of which are to be contributary shares, and the remainder reserved by the projectors, who waive their claim to any dividend until an amount equal to one-fifth of the capital subscribed by the public has been refunded. This is a liberal concession, and, from all we can learn from the ground to be worked, there is little doubt the Company will be floated without much diffield tv.
