PERSONAL NOTES.

Mr and Mrs J. A. Haggitt returned to Dunedin on Wednesday. Mr and Mrs C. A. Inglis returned to Queenstown on Thursday. Mr J. Fox of Tirnaru, is tine guest of his sister. Mrs F. J. Gavin. Miss Dot. McSoriley lias returned to Queenstown from Invercargill. Mr J. Edgar is visiting Christchurch for the Grand National. Mr Bruce Inglis left Queenstown on Friday en route for the north. Dr." W. A. Anderson, who has been on holiday, returned to Queenstown on Sunday. Mrs T. Donaldson of Invercargill is paying a short visit to Queenstown. • 1 Mr and Mrs Geoff Keddell of Invercargill are paying a short visit to Queenstown. Miss Jean Hunter is spending a few days with her people in Oamaru. Mr and Mrs T. J. Dwyer and family have returned from a holiday spent in Canterbury. Miss Begg, of Wallacetown, who has been the guest of Mrs H. Davies, has returned home. Mr Mowat, Inspector of Machinery, paid an official visit to Queenstown during the week. Mr and Mrs F. Meek and Mrs J. Meek, of Dunedin, are paying a short visit to Queenstown. Mr and Mrs E. Sharpe, who have ' been on a- short visit to Dunedin, have returned to Glenorchy. Mr and Mrs W. O'Malley and family of Dunedin, are holidaying in Queenstown. Mrs Henderson and her two children of Invercargill are on a visit to Queenstown. Mr F. Wright and his sou, Mr Y. Wright, of Akaroa, have been visiting Queenstown. The Misses Reid of Seacliff, who have been on holiday in Queenstown, have returned home. Mr F. W. Benfell, who has been relieving in the local office of the N.Z. Railways for the past three weeks, has returned to resume duties in Invercargill. The death took place in Dunedin on Saturday of Mr W. Stenliouse, onetime resident of Queenstown. Deceased practised dentistry for many years in Dunedin. Mr L. T. Cockerill of the Gore Rialto paid a business visit to Queenstown during the week. He was the guest of his brother and sister-in-law, Mr and Mrs P. W. J. Cockerill. The death took place in Invercargill on Friday last of May Dorothea, relict of Joseph Needham, one-time resident of Macetown and latterly of Bin 11'. Mrs Needham, who was 80 years of age, had been in failing health for some time. She was born in Tasmania and came to New Zealand when quite young. Deceased first married Mr T. Hoads, who was one of the early miners of Macetown. On the death of Mr Heads, she married Mr Joseph Needham, avlio was school- and postmaster at Macetown in its prosperous mining days. Mr Needham died some 29 years ago and .since then deceased has lived among the members of her family. The latter are Mrs T. McSoriley (Queenstown). Mr T. Heads (BinlT), Mrs A. Smiley (Invercargill) and Mr L. Needham (Greenhills);. There arc also three great-grandchil-dren and sixteen grandchildren. Deceased was of a kindly disposition and much respected by a largo circle of friends. The remains were interred in the Eastern cemetery, Invercargill on Saturday last.
