The top price of £s(l, paid ifor an \extra prime heavyweight bullock at the national “double market” at Addin,srtoa on Wednesday last was the highest since 1920 (states ‘The Press/ Christchurch). The Addington national sale is regarded throughout New Zealand as providing the greatest all-round display of show fat stock of the year, particularly in the fat cattle section. Graziers in both islands arc usually represented; and at Wednesday's market the top-priced bullock came from Otago. It bad taken prizes in several agricultural and pastoral shows in Otago. The record price for Addington of £204 was paid for a single bullock sold at the 1920 national market. It was a purebred Shorthorn, magnificently finished, and weighing 305111b. At the same sale a bullock—an 11-year-old weighing 30521b—brought £97. The next best price was paid in 192(1, when a Friesian sold on account of Mr A. J. Keith brought £9O, and established a world record weight of 39001b. This beat the record held by the Durham Ox since 1801. Its weight was 38081b.
