PERSONAL NOTES.

Miss Little of Invercargill has been holidaying in Queenstown. Mrs V. Sbandrett is visiting Southland.

Mr R. McDowall returned on Satur day from a visit to Winton.

Mr Bruce Inglis is spending a short holiday with his parents, Mr and Mrs C. M. Inglis. Mr W. Menlove was sworn in as a J.P. before Mr H. J. Dixon, S.M.this morning.

Mrs Sandys Wunsch of Edendale spent a few days in Queenstown last week.

Mr W. Robins, who has been spending a holiday in Invercargill, returned on Monday -evening. Mr and Mrs J. Olsen, Cecil Peak, are visiting Christchurch lor the Grand National meeting. Mr and Mrs Roy Eiastlake, who have been holidaying in Southland, returned to Queenstown on Tuesday. Mr and Mrs Alisher Munroe are visiting Invercargill. Mr and Mrs J. A. Haggitt of Dunedin are spending a few days in their Qu ecus t own re side nee. Mr and Mrs G. V. Wilkinson went to Christchurch last week for the Grand National. They will spend a few days at Timaru on the return journey. Mr and Mrs J. Little, Messrs K. Little and Thos. Little (Cardrona), and Mrs Hunt (Luggage), came to Queenstown for the funeral of the late Mrs Walsh.

Mrs W. Ayers and her small son have been on a visit to Queenstown. They were the guests of Mrs Ayers’ parents, Mr and Mrs D. F. Murchison. Mr A. S. Wigley, who was one of the team picked to represent New Zealand against the American ski-ers at Mt. Cook has returned to Queenstown. Mrs S. Knowles, who has been holidaying in Dunedin, returned to Queenstown on Saturday- She left lor her home in Glenorchy yesterday. Cadet Sampson, who has been appointed to assist his brother, Lieut. D. Sampson, in the Local Salvation Army Corps, arrived in Queenstown on Saturday night. Miss Lesley McLauchlin has returned to Invercargill after spending a week with her sister 1 , Miss A. Me Lauchlin at Frankton. Mr Black resumed duty in the local Post and Telegraph Office on Tuesday, after relieving Mr J. 'McFarlane at Glenorchy’-, who has been on sick leave. Mr and Mrs W. O'Connor, Mr and Mrs W. Stott, Mr and Mins M. Swain and Mrs T. Hannan of Invercargill came to Queenstown last week for the funeral of the fate' Mrs Walsh. Mr F. W. Bailey left by car on Thursday to spend his annual leave in Dunedin, where Mrs Bailey and children have been holidaying for some time. He was accompanied byMr and Mrs Keys of Mt. Creighton Station. iMr and Mrs G. E. Sharpe of Glenorchy spent a night in Queenstown before proceeding to Dunedin on Wednesday. Mr and Mrs J. R. Ellison ol Dunedin were the guests over the week-end of Mrs Ellison’s father, Mai* jor B. Mackenzie, at Walter Peak Station. Mr and Mrs Aubrey Tripp, ol Skippers, are the guests of Mrs Tripp’s sister, Mrs S. Knowles, Glenorchy. Mrs J. Reid and child returned to Glenorchy last week after spending a holiday in Dunedin. The death is announced in Tauranga of Mr A. P. Green, a former manager of the Bank of New Zealand, Queenstown. Deceased was manager of the Bank in Auckland when he retired in 1924. A pleasing incident took place after the morning service at St. Andrew is Presbyterian Church on Sunday when the Rev. D. K. Boyd, on behalf of the meinbers of the junior choir, referred to the resignation of Miss Jean Moffat and thanked her for the keen interest she had taken in the chon during her term as organist and choirmistresis. Master Gordon Johnson then presented Miss Moffat v ith a farewell gift in token of the esteem in which she is held.

An enjoyable farewell party was given by Mr and Mrs A. E. Smith, of Hunt street, Anderson’s Bay (formerly of Skippers), in the Wilford Tea Booms on Wednesday last. The guest of honour was their son Boland, who is leaving shortly for a position _in | New Guinea. During the evening songs were given by Mrs and Miss 'Smith, violin solos by Miss Brunton and Miss Ivy Smith, and recitations by Miss Scroll and Miss Angelo. .There were also games, competitions, dancing and cards for those who cared to play. Altogether it was a very pleasant night’s enjoyment.
