THE ESTIMATES.

PUBLIC WORKS EXPENDITURE

In the Public Works Estimates for the current financial year the Minister (Mr R. Semide) budgets for an expenditure of £5,450,700 from the General Purposes and Electric Supply Accounts and £2,725,000 Irom the Main' Highways Account. In the list of detailed items given it is to be understood that they represent the amount voted, only a portion of which is to be expended during the current year. The following are the local or district sums set down: —

Queenstown Post office £22,400. Hollyford to Okura (via Lake McKerrow) £25.000; Kingston-Queemstown road, £13,000; Makarora to Haast road, £21,000; Arrow River (Bendemeer water race), £1,990.
