Girl Guides.

QUEENSTOWN COMPANY. The third annual meeting of the Queenstown Company of Girl Guides was held in the Parish Hall last Wednesday afternoon. Mrs W. H. Overton presided. The minutes of the last annual meeting were confirmed. Committee Report. The outgoing committee reported that the year had been a very successful one. The Guides had maintained their interest under the capable management of Miss Liddell. Unfortunately the interest of the Brownies had flagged somewhat during the winter months, but it was hoped there would be a revival now that the weather was warmer. Some of the Guides attended cam]) during the Christmas holidays, and they reported a profitable as well as en-

joyable time. Mrs Clouston of Lumsden paid her final visit as Commissioner during the year, and much regret was felt at losing her. A canvass made of the town for subscriptions was attended by a good result. Thanks were offered the collectors as well as subscribers. The balance sheet showed a credit of £ll odd. Guide Captain’s Report. Miss I. Liddell, captain of the Guides, also submitted a review of the

year—a year that was described as a most eventful as well as successful one. Four parades were held during the year; the Company also staged a display (decorated lorry) at King’s Jubilee celebrations. The big event of the season had been the “camp” at Wharemoana, to which 9 guides were sent at very little expense to the parents. Thanks were offered Mrs I. Hunter for the delightful party the Guides had at the end of the term. Her interest in the company was always ‘an inspiration. The Guides also deeply appreciated the numerous kindnesses of Mrs Roycroft and Mrs Buckham, Messrs R. J. Buckham, H. Davis J. Hood and C. M. Inglis, and others who had assisted the movement. Parents were commended and thanked for sending their children along each week to the meetings. Office-bearers elected were; President, Mrs Irwin Hunter (Mrs Overton did not seek ,re-election).
