OBITUARY.

MRS ESTHER JOSEPHINE ROONEY. The sad news was received in Arrowtown on Thursday last of the death at Timaru, as tlio result of t,n accident, of IMrsi Esther Josephine Rconey, a former resident of Arrowtown. Prom the brief particulars tohand it appears that deceased lady was knocked down by a motor car on Wednesday afternoon, and died in the Timaru hospital that night. The late Airs Rconey was a native of Arrowtown, being the. second daughter of the late Air and Airs William Butler, pioneer residents of the district. After her marriage she resided at Alossburn, Queenstown, and Tdmaru in succession. Her husband died about six months ago. Thenei was no family. Airs P. AlcCarthy (Queenstown) is a sister of deceased, while hen only surviving brother, Air K. Butler, resides in Arrow-town.
