PERSONAL NOTES.

Mr and Mrs J. Sim of Dunedin are holidaying in Queenstown. The Rev.Father McFarlane of the North Island, was. a passenger by last, night’s steamer. He is the guest of Rev. Father Woods.

Mr and Mrs J. Haines, whb have been visit! mg their daughter, Mrs L. Ott, Auckland, returned to Queenstown on Friday evening. Mr and Mrs Jas. Kjnowles, wiluo have beein speeding a fortnight an the. Cromwell district, returned tlo Glenorchy to-day.

The Misses Watt of Dunedin are. spending ithe week end in Queens to wn, being among the: guests at HamMtom House.

Mr llobt. Craig, a former resident of Queenstown, revisited the town during last week and looked up a number of his old friends. The Rev. H. S. Bishop goes to Dunedin next Monday to. attend the annual Diocesan Synod. He visits Garston and Athol at the coming week-end.

Mr H. Viokennan, consulting engineer to the Kawarau G. M. Co, at the dam, paid a visit to Queensttown during 1 the week . Mrs M. O’Meara, of Dunedin, and her son and daughter paid a short* visit to Queenstown during 1 the week in connection, with the funeral of Mrs O’Meara’s sister, Mrs C. Sloper of Roxburgh. Mr H. A. Young, SM., Christ churehl, formerly of the Wakatipu circuit, has been promoted to senior Magistrate at the Cathedral City in consequence of Mr H. Y. ■ Widdowson’s impending retirement.

Mr H. Barron, a director of the Kawarau G.M. Co., and Mr W, PL Hartstonge, secretary to. the Company, visited the district during the week on Kawarau business. The funeral of the late Mrs C. Sloper of Roxburgh took place on Wednesday last. After a short eeiv vice in St. Joseph’s Ohurch, the .cortege left at 11 am. for the Frank ton cemetery. The remains were: conjveyed to their last resting place jn a motor hearse which brought thej body from Roxburgh the evening before. A number of motors took part in the. procession from Queenstown) and a giood many district people met the. cortege at, the cemetery gate. The last rites for the dead were car* ried out by the Rev. Father Woods. Several beautiful wreaths were placed on the grave. Among the relatives present were Mr C . Sloper, Mr J. J. Mcßride, and Mr Alex. Mcßride (Dunedin). brothers, and Mr Beg. O’Meara (Oamatu), a nephew of deceased.
