Sie,—Will you kindly inform me through your paper of a rumour that is going about re County Clerk's salary, vis., did the Clerk apply far a rise of £25 or was there a motion tabled, and by whom, and who supported the same and if such was the case why was it not reported? Trusting I am not asking too much.—l am., etc. Johh Smith. Skippers, July 27. [The Clerk made no application for an increase of .£25 in salary. The matter was brought up at the June meeting at the instance of Cr McDougall, but nothing wm done. Consequently there was nothing to report.—Ed. L. W.M.]
