OBITUARY.

Last night a well-known resident of Queenstown, in the person of Miss Janet Kerr, died at the< Wakatipu Hospital, where she had been receiving medical treatment for a couple of weeks. The cause of death was heart trouble, aggravated by overwork and inattention to herself. Deceased, who was 64 years of age, was a native of Dumfries, Scotland, and had been resident in Queenstown for a great many years. The late Miss Kerr lived a very solitary life and was a little eccentric in her ways and maimer, but a more industrious and honest woman never lived. ' The funeral takes place jat 11 o'clock on Thursday morning when her remains will be interred in the Frankton cemetery.

It is with feelings of the deepest regret that we record the news, which came in from Frankton this morning, of the death of Mr James Gardner, fellmonger, Queenstown, which took place at the Wakatipu Hospital jat an early hoar this morning as the outcome of the internal injuries he sustained on the 4th inst., in being thrown from his horse on the Frankton road. When admitted to the institution his condition, though serious, was not thought to be such as would be attended by a fatal result. An operation was performed during the week by two doctors and the progress made up to Sunday last was very encouraging. In spite of all that medical skill and good nursing could do, however» a turn for the worse set in yesterday and very little hojie was entertained of his recovery as h® gradually sank, passing away peacefully this morning. He was a native of Grangemouth, Scotland, and was only in his 56tl|fcear. Owing to our being about to go to a full account of the late Mr Gardner's career must be deferred till next issue. The funeral takes place on Thursday, leaving Bosaford House for the Queenstown cemetery at 2 p.m.
