BOMBMAKING IN GAOL.
HOW CONDEMNED PRISONERS ESCAPED FROM A RUSSIAN PRISON.
The gaol at Sabastopol has just been the scene of one of the most remarkable bomb plots ever executed, even in Russia.
At five in the afternoon the political prisoners were exercised in the court yard under military guard, when there was suddenly heard a formidable explosion which filled the yard with blinding smoke, amid which were heard one or two revolver shots. '
When the air sufficiently cleared the guard found that a hole had been blown out of the courtyard wall, and that every prisoner had escaped. Five of them had only been condemned to death the night before. Examination showed that the explosion had been from within the courtyard, and that under the flooring of some of the cells were all materials for making bombs. *< ': '.'j H •••' ' } 3 4-1
