Queenstown Public School.

The monthly meeting of the committee waa held in the schoolhotiM on Thursday evening last. Present: Messrs D. V F. Sutherland (chairman), A. Mayno, A. J. Pope, J. Salmond, 0. D. Dagg, Jas. Bevin and Rev. jas. Wilson. Minutes of previous meeting wert read and confirmed. Mr A. J. Pope tendered his resignation as secretary of the committee.— Resignation accepted. Mr A. H. Hiddleston was elected secretary on the motion of Messrs Mayne and Pope.' Miss Selby, mistress, resigned her position, giving a month's notice, which expired on the 14th September. Writer expressed regret at leaving and returned thanks to the staff and committee for the consideration that she had received since her appointment. Resolved, on the motion of Messrs Bevin and Salmond —That Miss Selby s resignation be accepted with regret and that the committee congratulate Miss Selby on her promotion to Kapuki school. Mr Pope referred to the good service rendered by Miss Selby and trusted that the next teacher would have Mgood influence with the children as Miss Selby. In view of the illness of Miss Selby the Board sent up Miss Harrington of Invercargill as relieving teacher. It was agreed to ask the Board to allow Miss Harrington to remain in Quecnstown till another teacher was appointed. It was also decided to wire the Board asking it to recall Miss Selby. It was decided to repair the school clock and to procure a small screen for a book case. It was resolved to ask the Board to paper a room in the schoolmaster's residence and to provide more porch accommodation than at present. The Chairman and the secretary were asked to see Mr McCan, the Board's architect, when he visited Queenstown. The Chairman was appointed to go with Mr Mayne on a canvass of the town for subscriptions to buy sweets for the children on Arbor Day.
