The sports in connection with the abovs club took place last Monday. The weather was fine though a strong wind made matters unpleasant in the town; the grounds being well sheltered escaped the gale. Large numbers came in from the country and beside the usual attendance of townspeople many visitors from different centres attended. About 700 people visited the grounds during the day and the gate money totalled £lllß9 which does not include members' subscriptions. The programme of events submitted was equal to the standard of former years and with the exception of the half-mile handicap sufficient entries were received to warrant each event taking place. A movement in the right direction was inaugurated when the bicycle events were run off before the trotting contests thus saving the track which at its best is not conducive to record The Queenstown Brass Band .under Conductor Fraser enlivened the day's proceedings with a number of selections. Queenstown has every reason to be proud of its band and many favourable comments on its playing were passed by the visitors. The Committee worked hard in the endeavour to make the meeting what it was—a decided success. Messrs C. £. Gudgeon, 0. Beid, P. M'Carthy and J. Budge deserve special mention for the way in which they performed their duties. Mr J. Budge acted as starter in place of Mr J. Black, and gave every satisfaction. Mr J. M'Connochie had the refreshment and fruit-stalls and evidently did good business. The stakes amounted to £35 Us 6d, the entry fees to £9 19s 6d, privileges to £1 and members' subscriptions to £24 13s 6d.

There was nothing particularly exciting in the day's sport, but the second handicap time trot caused some interest by the close finish between the placed horses. The following are the results of the various events :
