marvellous for its grand and magnificent scenery, its superb lake, its wonc|erful dredging industry and its rich and fertile lands. He knew of nothing more wonderful or more sublime than the Remarkables or the mountains at the Head ; the colours of the lake were without parallel; the deep blue haze that shades the Remarkables like a curtain was unique and unapproached in any ether part - <sf the wt)rid, and Queenstown, the City of the Lakes, he considered one of the prettiest spots man could desire to see. He would, wherever he went, carry with him the most pleasant recollections of his visit to Wakatipu, and he regretted he could not stay longer; at anyrate he intended to return as soon as possible and a month's stay. He wished that Lake Wakatipu were better known in New South Wales, because the traffic from that colony would Be trebled if people there realised the glorious scenery New Zealand possessed.
