On Ist January, 1899, the roember{ship of the Order was 944,769, an j increase of 19,659 on the year. The : male adult members numbered i 804,415, an increase of 16,453. The j financial figures for 1898 were not I ready for the meeting in May, 1899, j but at the beginning of the total j capital amounted "to £9,783,020 19s ' 6d. The income of the sick and funeral fund during that vear was £1,207,024 19s 4d, and the society paid for sickness benefits £695,789 13s Bd, and for funeral claims £142,221 5s Id, leaving a balance of £369,011 0s 7d.
