The directors ot an Australian bank had engaged the services of a watchman who camei well recomaicuded, but did not stem overexperienced. The chairman, therefore, seut foe hi in to '• post him up '' a bit, and begau : "James, this is your [irst job of this kind 1 , isn't it ?' " Yes, sir." " Your duty must be to exercise vigilance. ' " Yes. sir." " Be careful how strangers approach you.'* 1 . '• I will, sir." "No stranger must be allowed to eater th<j bank at night under any pretext whatever." " No, sir."
" Aud our manager—he is a good man—-houei-t, reliable, aud trustworthy ; but it will be your duty to keep your eye on him.'' " But it will be hard to watch two mi u and Ihc bank at the same time." " Two men —how ?"
