THE DEERING PONY BINDER.
Mr Anderson, of Otama, (states a contemporary) started bis Deering pony binder on 22nd inst. in grass which had a thick sole of red clover, with trefoil matted through it. The machine went away without a hitch, taking a fall 6ft cut without any trouble. After making a few rounds the binder opened up in another part of the grass, and went right through without a stoppage. Mr Anderson was thoroughly pleased with its performance, and says that he has the best machine in New Zealand, and that he never saw a machine to handle grass in the way t-he Deering pony did. The Deering pony is an all-steel binder, with ball and roller bearings, which soieducethe frictiou as to save a horse in draught, and enables a light machine to cat a heavy crop without any danger of sledging. It has an extension to the elevators, giving all the benefits without the defects of the open rear machine. Its binder is adjustable to such an extent that neat round bundles (tied in the middle) can be made whether the grain is 7ft high or only I'2in. Messrs Reid and Gruy, the celebiated implement makers, Dunedin, are sole agents lot the binders.
