A Self-locking Cow Ball
A good and convenient cow-bail is a great comfort in the dairy shed. TOe accompanying sketch shows an im-
provement on the ordinary bail fastened with a wo«den peg stuck into a tiole. It has a novel, self-acting fastener which will keep the bail securely closed until it is required to be opened to 1 release the cow. By means of the cor* shown in the cut a whole row of COWS can be set free simultaneously tf desired. The same contrivance applied to the chain style of fastening, used where cattle are housed in the winter, is «ateO| shown in the accompanying sketch. It is considered best to cover in the cortt and iron pin, here shown exposed, or the pin might be pulled out by an mal getting its horns entangled in tne cord.
