THE RESULTS OF GAMBLING.
Samuel Dickinson, a wholesale potato inerchant, at one time of very extensive business, came tip for Examination at the Newcastle Bankrudtcy Court lately. The debtor commenced business 13 years ago without any capital, and when he fled his petition he had £l7 10s in hand. His turnover in buflines had varied from £6O to £2OO a-week, and his prophets were highly satisfactory. He had gambled on the turf, however, attending Manchester and other race 'neetiugs, and at present he had debts of honour amounting to £IOO. He was worth £12,000 four years ago. He then lost £2IOO in two days at Manchester Baces. He then made £9OOO by betting in 18 months, .but had lost all on the turf. His liabilities were £lOlO 18s 7d, and there weire numerous summonses and judgments against him.
