The lake wakatjpu steam SHIPPING CO. (LIMITED). The above Company bavin? purchaser! all the Steamers now trading on Lake Wakatipu, desire to inform the public that they intend to carry on the service as heretofore, but in a manner, if possible, more suitable to the district and the travelling public. The steamers are being thoroughly re-fitted and made much more comfortable than before. No expense is beiug spared, and should the traffic increase sufficiently to warrant placing a more commodious and very much faster boat on the lake than auy we have, provision has been made fo r doing so. There is ns intention (nor has there been any) of raising Fares and Freights as erroneously reported; on the contrary, if the Company, after getting into working order, can see its way clear to reduce fares, it will do so, but freight being already fixed at so low a rate will remain as it is with a few minor alterations. The business will be carried on as nearly as possible under the shipping rules of a seaport. Therefore, freight must be paid for on delivery of goods at the wharves of Queenstown, Frankton and Head of Lake. The Company's risk ceases immediately the goods are landed, and it will be necessary that consignees take delivery of their goods with as little delay as possible. The Company, having to pay cash for Railway Carriage, cannot give any credit for same, and it will be necessary for country consignees to make arrangements with their carters to pay all charges before taking delivery of goods. Goods for Country Consignees will be stored free for one week, after which storage will be charged at the rate of 6d. per ton per day on lots over one ton (fraction of a ton to reckou as a ton), and double rate under one ton (minimum quantity charged for, 5 cwt.) and 1C per cent, on the Railway Charges. The Company are anxious to oblige consignees and passengers in every way possible, and should anything arise requiring redress, it is requested that it should be reported, in writing, to the Managing Director who will immediately institute inquiry. Families living in the district, Friendly Societies, etc., desirous of having a trip to any part of the lake may do so at a reduced rate by arranging with tho lanaging Director. Butchers and others please take notice that the p.s. ANTRIM will be specially run on WEDNESDAYS and SATURDAYS for the pnrpose of carrying Live Stock from Kingston at the usual rate; Horses and Tame Cattle only being carried by the other steamers. If Sheep or Pigs are wantc d by either of the other steamers, Double Rates will be charged. All Dogs charged Is. per head. Until further notice the time-table will be as follows: — Day of Week.
