LAKE DISTRICT JOCKEY CLUB.
A meeting of Committee was held at Powell's Family Hotel on Monday evening, 24th inst Present—Dr Douglas (chair), and Messrs Powell, Atkins, Cash, Wills, Betts, Malaghan, Bridge, Robertson, M'Bride, Goodsir, and Tully (secretary). The Chairman reported that the amount collected in Queenstown for the Annual Races was about £IOO, and the receipts from other sources would amount to nearly £230 —or a total of £330. He suggested that the Stewards be elected before deciding what amount should be run for. Proposed by Mr Bridge, seconded by Mr Atkins, and carried—That the number of stewards be fixed at six. The following gentlemen were nominated as Stewards :—Messrs F. C. Boyes, M'Moran, Bridge, Betts, Atkins, J. M'Bride, Cash, Surman and Wills. After a ballot, the result was that Messrs Atkins, M'Moran, Betts, Wills, Bridge, and Boyes were elected. After some discussion, it was proposed by Mr Atkins, seconded by Mr Cash, and carried—That the amount to be run for at the next annual meeting be £350. The election of officers then took place, with result as under:—Judge—Dr Douglas; Starter—Mr D. Powell; Clerk cf the Course —MrH. King. The Secretary was instructed to write for two copies of the Dnnedin Jockey Club Rules.
