Dunedin, this day, 4 p.m. The Governor has telegraphed that he will stay at Chriatchureh over the anniversary of the Province; then he will go to Timaru, proceeding overland to Dunedin, arriving here about the 21st December. The City of Dunedin left London on September 27th, with 138* immigrants. The Surat, with 269 immigrants, has also sailed. The Superintendent has received intimation from Southland of great scarcity of labor. If the district is not supplied by next week the sawmills will have to close, thereby stopping the railways. Vogel telegraphs he has instructed Featherstone to despatch an immigrant vessel direct to the Bluff every six weeks. The Interprovincial Cricket Match was concluded yesterday. The weather was lovely both days. Two thousand spectators were present. Otago won the toss, and her captain decided to go in, which was considered a great mistake. The follow, ing are the scores:—Otago, first innings, 77; second innings, 41. Auckland, first innings, 78 \ second innings, 40, with four wickets to spare. Otago's fielding was splendid both innings, but they were deficient in batting. Downe's bowled splendidly the first day, but was prevented from playing the second day by an accident. Sweet, for Auckland, bowled magnificently. The directors of the National Insurance Company threaten to proceed with an action for libel against the Auckland newspapers.
