Acceptances for the first day of the Canterbury Park Trotting Club’s meeting will close at noon to-day. Tho Auckland Trotting Club’s meeting should have opened yesterday, but rain caused a postponement. This will mean carrying the meeting into next week, an arrangement which will interfere with the plans of those Canterbury sportsmen who contemplated seeing’ two clays’ trotting in Auckland and then getting hack for tho opening of the Canterbury Park Trotting Chib’s meeting on Saturday. Tho following penalties have been incurred for the Canterbury Park Trotting Club’s meeting:—Templeton Handicap, Coldstream. ll,see, First Carbine 3sec, Tho Dingo 2sec; Stewards’ Handicap, Nighbpm 4sec; Railway Handicap. Anomaly, who Avon tho two-year-old race at the Manawntu meeting on Monday, is by King Mark from the Birkenhead mare, Hoy, who carried the colours of the Into J. D. Ormond with credit in sprint races a few years ago. Onslaught’s win in the £»fc Andrew s Handicap, at the Dunedin Jockey Club’s meeting yesterday, marked his third success this season in the colours of Messrs Clarkson and Pearson, who purchased the brilliant Antagonist gelding near the end of last season. Pearson lias done' exceptionally avoll to keep him going and to get him in such good racing fettle. , Blackmail, the winner of the Palmerston North Stakes yesterday, is a threo-vear-old filly by Bczonian from Historiotto, a grand-daughter of RenoAvn, „Avbo has been represented by two winners this Reason, in War Hawk and Idle Talk. Blackmail Avon three races last season, including tho North Island Challenge Stakes, but yesterday's success marked her first win ns a three-year-old.
