December 28 Fourteen persons were killed in Ireland at Christmas week-end, including a girl, who was shot dead while attempting to protect Constable Richardson, at Limerick. Richardson was walking with Elizabeth Scales, aged twenty-two, on Sunday evening, when four men seized tho constable’s revolver and levelled it against the policeman. Elizabeth Scales rushed in between Richardson and the murderers, and was shot dead.
