AKAROA. The annual moeting of-tho Aknroa County Couuoil wfce held at Duvauchelle ou W-adase-Uay; present—Messrs J. R. Thacker, J. D. Bruce, E, Hay, 0. 'B. Thicker mid R. A. Pettigrew. Mr J. R, Thacker was re-elected chairman. A motion ot appreciation o£ the servioes of Mr P. W. Williams, who has retired from the couuoil, was passed. The chairman welcomed the new member, Mr Pettigrew. The ordinary moating wrb then hold. The arohiteot (Mr Lovell-Smith) wrote, enclosing an amended contract from Mr J. L. Grant of £2117 for the erection of the new qffioo. The ohairman and Mr Bruce were deputed to inspect the plane and specifications and sign the contraot. Mr Orton Bradley wrote, offering to lend the council £BOOO at 51 per cent. Accepted. Tho Pigeon Bay Road Board forwarded £2OO in part payment for metal crushing. The engineer wrote, saying that the crusher had finished work at Pigeon Bay and had been moved to Duv&uchelle and stnrtod crushing work there. The foreman’s report, dealing with the past month's work, was read and approved. It was decided to place on yeoprd the council’s appreciation of Mr O. Bradley’s services whilst representing the council on the Hospital Board. The ohairman reported that the Special Committee had arranged to let the Power Board have its building ou the council’s section, which part would he leased to the Power Board. The matter of repairs to On awe Wharf was left in Mr Pettigrew’s hands. Accounts, amounting to £BIB 15s 3d were passed for payment.
