MALVERN SUB-UNION. Teams representing Greondale and Kirwee met in the Kirwee Domain on Saturday, the game resulting in a win for the homo team by 13 points to 3. Lochhead, J. Howard and N. Kelly scored tries for the winners, two of which wore converted by It. Belgrave. E. Warren kicked a penally goal for tho losers. Mr J. Coffey was referee. ASHBURTON COUNTY UNION. Springburn met Raltaia on the Ashburton Domain on Saturday, tho former winning by eight points to three. ELLESMERE SUB-UNION. Mr K. T. M'Millan (president) presided ovor a meeting of the Ellesmere Sub-Union, held at Leeslon. Ho stated that tho Dunsandol Club was very anxious that an insurance scheme should be adopted. Tho club had hnd a player injured in tho first match of tho season. Tho matter hud been brought up previously by College. So far there was nothing definite to report in regard to inquiries made of tho Canterbury Rugby Union as to whether Ellesmere players should participate in their scheme. Apparently the Canterbury Rugby Union was not anxious that tho Ellesmere players should be brought under its scheme. Ho suggested that clubs should consider the matter. It was decided that tho secretary should write to tho Canterbury Union to ascertain whethor there was any chanco of the Ellesmere Rugby SubUnion players being brought under its insurance schemo. The president said that iv scheme proposed somo years ago wa-s that each club Bhould pay in £3 3s, -i>nd injured players bo paid 15s per week. Mr Delargey said that a better plan would be to make a grant of a lump sum to the injured mem, according to tho merits of the enso. Tho question of appointing a Selection Committee was considered, and it was decided that a Selection Committee of three be appointed at next meeting.
