SWIMMING.
CANTERBURY CENTRE. Tlio Canterbury Swimming Centre met Last night, Mr W. E. Simes, president, in the chair. Present—Messrs R.. B. Wbeeley. E. Kldridgo, J. Thompson, A. Tench, H. S. 'Batchlor, V. Atkinson, E. Eadio, J. W. Tourney L. A. U. Rich, Johns, H. Rich. L. Annand, A. Barrett and W. Johnson, and Miss C. J. Cousins. At tha request of MrV L. A. G. Rich, it v.-as decided to furnish a list of the collection cards sent out by tho centre in connection with the effort to raise funds to send representatives to the Olympic games. An application for reinstatement as an amateur wa? received from. T. H. NYheoley, who forwarded a declaration that he had not accepted a professional engagement for three years, and that lie had received no presents fiern his pupils during the past twelve uonths. Letters testifving that Mr Whoeloy had refused remuneration for his coaching services woro appended. After considerable discussion, it was unanimously resolved that Mr . Wheeley should be recommended for reinstatement «* an amateur.
