INFLUENZA.
RESTRICTIONS REMOVED. The Health Department’s restrictions on attendance at schools and picture shows and on travelling in tramcars, imposed on account of influenza, were removed yesterday. Dr Chesson gave permission for the schools to reopen yesterday morning, but by the Education Board’s arrangement, the children will not assemble tor school duties _ until Monday. At most of the schools in the city and suburbs they assembled at nine a.m. and wero given instructions connected with to-day’s ceremonies, and then wero dismissed until Monday morning. Dr Chesson urges tho public to continue to observe reasonable precautions and to avoid rol fish ness and thoughtlessness. There are twenty mild cases ana seven severe cases in the Christchurch Hospital. Thirty cases —28 mild and 2 pneumonic—were reported to tho healtn. officer from Canterbury between noon on Wednesday and noon yesterday. Tho details are:— Christchurch—l 9 mild, 1 pneumonic. Lvttelton —2 mild, 1 pneumonic. Marshland—l mild. Scargill—l mild. Waimate—4 mild. Morven—l mild. Tho bi-weekly report, from noon, on Monday to noon yesterday, gives 124cases, only 8 of which are pncfamonic. The details are:— Christchurch —49 mild, 4 pneumonic. Lyttelton—l pneumonic. Springston- 1 pneumonic. Sumner —3 mild, 1 pneumonio. New Brighten—3 mild. Belfast, Kaiapoi and Lincoln—3 each, mild. Hornby, Doyleston, Fernside, facaigill and Aniberlev—l each, mild. Methven—2 mild. Ashburton Borough—3 mild. Timaru —1 mild, 1 pneumonio. Waimate—l4 mild. Geraldine —22 mild. Willowbridge—4 mild. Fairlie, Allendale, Kimbell, Morven —1 each, mild.
