SUMNER GALA.

During tho period of tho war tho various sports organisations had availed thomsolvos ot every opportunity to assist tho patriotio funds, and tho galas had been run for funds in conncotion with tho war. Funds wero now required, and ho invited a full discussion on tho question of raising thorn. After a lengthy disoussion tho meeting unanimously agreed to hold the Sumner Gala on Saturday, Mlarch 27. It was decided to offer Burpriso packets for sale. Miso M. A. Bain was appointed organiser, with a committee consisting of Misses M, Wood, D. Jamieson and E. Leithead, and Mesdamos C. H. Hamilton. F. 8. Maddison, G. W. C. Smithson and I. Wilson. It was agreed that Misses T. E. Whitfield, S. G. Unwin, J. Foster, J. Illingworth and C. Do Pass should toko charge of the produce font. Sub-comrnitteos wore appointed to superintend tbo various activities in connection with tho Gala. It was resolved to invito tho Sumner Life Saving Club to arrange a programme of water ©vents. A strong exeoutivo was appointed, and arrangements wero made to ensure a thoroughly suooossful gathering. The following officers wero elected: Patron, the Hon J. Barr, M.L.C.; chairman, Councillor W.
