LORD JELLICOE.

MESSAGE TO DOMINIONS. By Telegraph— Press Association—Copyright Australian end N.Z. Cable Association _ LONDON, Maroh 2. Lord Jeliiooe, in a message to the dominions, appearing in the March issue of “United Empire,” says: —“ On my return from the dominions, whilst the memory of the wonderful welcome given to the officers and men of H.AI.S. New Zealand, as representing the Royal Navy, is still fresh, I should like to say how deeply I appreciate the extraordinary kindness extended to us everywhere. People literally took _us to their hearts and homes. Certain features of the tour were outstanding: First, the depth of loyalty to King and Empire, and tho lovo of Motherland; second, the great promise tho dominions hold out for the future, which, combined with the vitality _ of the people should ensure prosperity to all who cast in their lot with these far-flung portions of the Empire.” No one can see as we can the efforts, whioh are being made to bring home to the children of the dominions their dependence upon sea power for their security and development, without realising that these efforts must inevitably lead to a fuller understanding of the part the Navy has taken in building up the Empire,’and which jt must take if tho Empire Is to be retained. I think that the people of the dominions will agree with me that one of the strongest ties of Empite is tho Royal Navy, whether that Navy is maintained solely by Great Britain or whether theTo are constituent portions which, whilst they have theiT home in the dominions’ waters, will act in the closest co-operation with the fleeja of the Mother Country.
