CHARGE OF MURDER.

A charge of murder arising put of the death of Arthur John Hop ton, who was; killed at Penrose on January 26 as a remit of a collision with a motor-car, was heard before Mr F. K. Hunt, S.M; V ' to-day, when Alfred Thomas Percy Dare' | (aged twenty-three), a carrier by occupation, who had been arrested in the North Auckland district, was charged," on the allegation that he drove the mo. tor concerned in the collision. He waa also charged that on the same day he unlawfully converted to his own use a.' ' motor-car belonging to Arthur E.Satterson, and that he damaged the car to the extent of £44.>■- After evidence had been heard, counsel for accused submitted that there was no evidence to S' istify an indictment for murder. Mir , unt said he would leave the matter to the Crown Prosecutor. Dare then ■ pleaded not guilty and was committed for trial. Counsel asked for bail,..but this was refused.
