ST ANDREW'S COLLEGE.

APPOINTMENT OF PRINCIPAL. Mr A. K. "Anderson, assistant-master of the Otago Boys' High School, was unanimously appointed Principal of fet Andrew's College, in succession to Mr S. R. Diokinson, at a meeting of the Board of Governors yesterday. Mr Anderson is a native of New Zealand. Ho serves as a pupil teacher in the Mataura Public School for three years and entered the " Duned;n Teachers' Training College in 191.0Two years later, he joined the staff of the Waitaki Boys' High School in which he became assistant-master. In 1916 he was appointed to the staff of the Otago Boys' High School, where he has remained up to the present time. At the beginning of 1918, on the death of Dr Bedford, he was selected to undertake, in addition, the duties of Lecturer on Advanced History at Otago University. He secured the M.A. degree of the Now Zealand University with firstclass honours in history. In 1916 he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society.' For four years he has •been associated with Dr J. Hight, Professor of Economics and History at Canterbury College, studying, history under his direction, and later collaborating with him in university work. While a student at Otago University in 1910-11, he was a member of the Knox'Colkge; for more than four years at Waitaki he was a housemaster; and for more than a year he was senior resident master at the Otago Boys' High School Rectory. He enlisted twice during the war, but was classed as fit only for homo duties. He is commanding officer of the Otago Boys' High School Battalion. He has been a representative player in football, cricket, hockey, and tennis. He tied for the Southland rifle championship in 1916, and was second for the Dunedin groun ft^wayioasbj^.
