LAWN TENNIS.
PAPARUA v. ASHBURTON. A team of players from the Paparua Tennis Club journeyed to Ashburton cm Tuesday (Anniversary Day), end played o> friendly matoh with a team from the ' St Andrew s club on the latter's courts, ot the Asnburton Domain, resulting in a, win for the visitors by 40 games. The weather was ideal, and a most enjoyable time was spent by one and. all. Members of tbs St Andrew’s club very kindly supnlied a cfainty luncheon, whilst a "very liberal supply of “ good things was provided on the grounds. At the conclusion of the matoh Mr Menhirs (captain of Die Paparua club) warmly thanked the members of tho St Andrew’s club for the rnorner in which the visitors bad been treated, and for tho kindly hospitality and good sportsmanship which had jbeon shown. Three hearty cheers were then called for, and wore responded to by the Ashburton' members. Tho results of play were as follow*, players being mentioned first in each mCombined Doubles—G.
