MAGISTRATE'S COURT
* CHRISTCHURCH. Mr S. E. M'Carthy, S.M., presided at the Magistrate's Court yesterday. ALLEGED THEFT. Leslie J. Mullaney, who had already been remanded on a charge of the theft of £3O, the property of the OUvo Branch Lodge of Druids, Hornby, was further remanded until November 30, bail being allowed in £2OO and two sureties of £IOO each. ALLEGED FALSE PRETENCES. Frederick John Wormald and Janet Mary M'Guire, who appeared on remand on a charge of obtaining £194 4s from William John Cupples by false pretences, were further remanded for a week, bail being allowed, in the case of Wormald in £IOO and two sureties of £SO each, and in the case of Janet Mary M'Guire in £SO in her own recognisance. ASHBURTON. Mr V. G. Day, S.M., presided at the Ashburton Magistrate's Court yesterday -. William Laffey was fined os and costs on a charge of a breach of his prohibition order. Mrs N. Clucas was fined 5s on each of five charges of breaches of the Truancy Act, with costs in the first instance only.
