Thomas Coolon, a well-known mineowner, alter making his will, secured a rifle and shot dead four men, Bernard Thompson, IV iHi am Broom, Harold Smith and William Brown, working at various claims at the Mount Coolon goldfield. He told another man that he intended to shoot five or six more men and then himself. Coolon escaped into the bush, and is still at large, lie was recently engaged on litigation over mines. It is believed that his mind is unhinged.
