NEUTRAL FLAGS.
TO THE K9ITOS. Sir,--It appears to mo there is much difference of opinion with' regard to the hoisting of flags at the time of peace celebration. This young country has a good many citizens outside enemy country subjects. For instance, there are Holland, Denmark; Sweden, Norway and Spaiiu What the public wants to know is, is it improper for the subjects of these five countries to join in tho festival by fiving their respective flags? Also, would it bo improper for the Consuls of each of the above countries to Jly his country's flap,- over the consulate r By giving the above information it would enlighten many who hare spread discord about this' matter.—l am, etc., ! . IGNORANT. Mr H. B. Sorensen, Consul for Denmark in the South Island, to whom the above letter was referred, stated that it would not be improper. -or even a breach of etiquette, to fly tho flag of any neutral country during the peace celebrations. He expressed an opinion, indeed, that as all neutral' countries, a? well as the Allied countries, are interested in the peace of the world, it would be quite tho proper thing to display neutral flags side by side with tlio Allies' flags. Tne flag of Denmark was flown over the consulate, in Lichfield Street yesterday for the first time sine© tho war began.
