ROLL OF HONOUR.

PERSONAL NOTES. . Information has been received by Mrs R. F. Lot, of 95, Fisher Street, Beckenham, of the death from influenza at Foatherston Camp, of her husband, Gunner Frederick Ernest Lok. Gunner Lok was an enthusiastic Volunteer and Territorial, and was oneof the original members of the Highland Rifles. He was thirty-eight years of age. Mr R. H. Burges3, Staveley, Ashburton County, has been advised that his third son, Private W. J. Burgess, was reported missing, believed killed in action, on September 29. Private Burgess left New Zealand with the Thirtieth Reinforcements, and, prior to enlisting, was employed by his brother in the timber trade. He was educated at tho Springburn School, and was a prominent footballer, having represented the Ashburton County in many matches. Mr Burgess has one son returned, having lost a leg, one killed at Passchendaelo Ridge on October 12, 1917, and one still serving in France with the N.Z.R.B. Private J. Desmond, killed in action, was born in County Waterford, Ireland, and came to New Zealand abont nine years ago. Ho worked in the Chertsey district with Mr Paul Doig and Hampton Bros, Pendarvis, as a teamster. He left Pendarvis to go into camp with the Thirty-first Reinforcements. Private Desmond has a sister residing in Dunedin. Mr P. J. Hill has received advice that his son, Sergeant B. C. Hill, was wounded in the right arm and admitted to Jiospital in France on October .26. Sergeant Hill left New Zealand with tho Eighth Reinforcements ' in November, 1915,, and in August, 1916, he joined the Lewis Machine-gun Section prior, to going into the Somme battle (where he lost his brother Arthur), and is still, attached to that branch of tho service.

Word has been received by Mr W. Jamieson that his son, Private W. Jamieson, was admitted to hospital in England, as a sick patient, and is progressing satisfactorily.
