LINWOOD CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH.

ANNUAL MEETING. On Wednesday evening the annual Dieting in connection with the Linwood Congregational Church was held. The choir rendered special music, and Mrs Gray c<ntributed a solo, Mr J. W. Roberts, se-.re-tary, read the annual report, which showed that the work of the church had been veil maintained. There was an increase in the church membership, every department cf the church's activity was in good order, and the 'prospects for the future were bright. In the absence of Mr W. Boon, the treasurer's statement was read by Mr R. Broadbelt. During the year a;bout £450 had been raised for various purposes, and although there was a small debit on the genoral account; other funds showed a substantial credit. The Rev W. Tanner, of the Tennyson Street Church, in a short address, congratulated the Linwood Church on its success during the year, The Rev H. Al.en Job then gave a hearty welcome home to Captain P. M'Callum, M.C. Mr F. W. Dawber, late Sunday School superintendent, also • spoke oi'ibc pleasure of all in welcoming home ojie-v.ho had carried the' thoroughness und sincerity of his youth into the larger affairs of life and had distinguished himself as a. scholar and a hero. Captain M'Callum, who was severely gassed while serving in Franco wiih the Army Medical Corps, has been absent from !Xew Zealand for nine years. He icceived a -warm ovation on rising to speak, and suitably responded to .the addresses, of weloome, expressing pleasure at being back again among so many old friends.
