MEN IN HOSPITAL,

WELLINGTON, Septem tier 23,

The following further particulars with regal’d to the state of health of the men of the Fortieth Reinforcements in hospital at Home as a result of the epidemic on their transport, were given to-day by Sir James Allen:—

“Telegrams are going out,” said the Minister, “ to next of kin to-night, but I think it so necessary to let the public know—l know that they are so anxious about the matter—that I hope next of kin will not feel in any way hurt if the news appears in the papers before thev have received their notifications. “General Richardson cables me that the sick rate is still diminishing. The total number in Fargo Hospital, Salisbury, is 41, and all are doing well except 71202 Gunner J. Dunn, who is dangerously ill. “The number in Codford Hospital is 116, the following being dangerously ill

“ 79279 Private A. W. Moody. . “ 42965 Gunner A. T. Sealey. “ 70341 Private G. B. Rodgers. “The following are seriously ill: — “ 76576 Private T. Kelliher. “ 79352 Private S. G. Skinner. “ 74908 S. A. Chisholm. “The medical officers at Codfoid are hopeful that there will be no further mortality.” .
