— v . The annual meeting of the Canterbury Trades and Labour Council was held at ’tho Trades Hail on Saturday evening. Thelpresident (Mr;o.'O’Donnell) was in the chair, and there was a good attendance of delegates. < Communications wore received from the Public LibYarian, uvith,,reiptftuceHp the establishment of a technical library. It was decided to congratulate tho Library Cbmmittee on its forward movp in this direction; and to also reply that the council is establishing a similar library in tho Trades Hall, A letter was received from the executive: of the campaign for carrying out the recommendations of tho Efficiency Board in relation to the liquor trade, asking tbe'Council tb receive a deputation at its next meeting. The letter was laid on the table. A copy of the annual report of the Canterbury College wad ..received. It was decided to acknowledge receipt and thank the Registrar, and to express regret that no mention was made of the Yorkers’ Educational Association. The annual report and balance-sheet, showing a healthy financial poSit&n, were adopted. The. electiou of officers for the ensuing twelve months resulted in Mr IV Robson being elected president and Mr Butterfield vice-president. Mr E. J. Howard was re-elected secretary, and the following were olocted an Executive Committee:—Messrs Worrell. Dickson, Day, Rogers And Miss Robinson.
