TRAMWAY COPPER TRAIL.

MEETING OF EXECUTIVE. , The executive of the Tramway Copper Trait met last-night, the chairman fair Ij, B. Hart) , presiding over an attendance ol ; twenty-two members. Mr A. S. Clarkson reported that satisfactory resuits had been obtained from a visit by the Mayor of Christchurch and himself to Ashburton. The lied Cross ladies there were very enthusiastic. A further application had been made for tickets and the Mayor of Ashburton told him that still more would be. needed. •' iV ; r" . Mr J. F- Collins reported that Mr W. EV D. Bishop and he had waitod upon, officers of;, the Women’s-National Reserve, who had promised valuable help. .-/■ ”• " : j ■ A vote of thanks, was passed to that body and to-the Women’s Auxiliary iof the Lady Liverpool Committee for .their offer. It was decided that only one concert should he given each week in the city, and that the Entertainment Committee should be : recommended to arrange-for concert parties to go into suburban and country centres. . . «Mr W. H. Winsor reported thffb' arrangements had been made in connection with the coming trotting meeting, in support of the green ticket, the Coronation Street-Lincoln Road-Ric-carton' section. The sum of about £IOOO was expected from that effort. Nat Weods, for. the Publicity .'Committee', reported that advertisements, in the newspapers had been arranged for; and trophies representing about £l5O would be provided. The Publicity Committee was instructed to arrange for better methods of handing tickets to -purchasers. A motion was carried expressing gratification at the Publicity Committee’s methods of advertising the Trail by newspaper articles. Mr C. W. Hervey, secretary, reported that he had taken Bteps to form a committee at Burwood. Meetings would be held in several suburban centresMr G. E. Good moved that the Automobile Association, the Public. Schools’ Athletic Association, the Pioneer Cycling and Athletic Club, and the Aviation Company should be asked to hold a motoring, cycling and athletic'meeting at PlUmptOn Park in aid of the general fund. - The motion was seconded, by Mr Clarkson and carried, Mr R, Sellars stating that 'athletics should occupy a prominent place on the programme. The secretary reported that ladies in Cathedral Square sold £SO worth of tickets yesterday and £49 worth on Monday.- 1 ’’ . 1 '

A “hard up ” social and dance organised by the Papanni section of the Tramway Copper Trail movement was held in St Paul’s schoolroom on Monday night; .There was a very good attendance. Prizes fpr' the best costumes were returned by. the winners to be auctioned on behalf of the fund and realised £2 6s. Air James Kruse was the auctioneer. A fortunerteller’s stall erected on the stage did .good business. Airs C. Smith sang “ The Tramway Copper - Trail,” which realised 15s ’2d, Songs were also.contributed by Miss Mav Pearce and Mr 1 Woodham. . Miss M’Donald played the accompaniments.
