HACKTHORNE ROAD CASE. At tlie meeting of the Christchurcn Tramway Board yesterday Mr D. In his opinion the boardhad not "got a leg to stand on," and in objecting to a continuance h> thought an opportunity should be given to settle the matt**. ■■ Mr S. A. Staples seconded the motion' pro forma and in doing so cited the position regarding Fendalton, Papauui an Dallington. and that in respect to, Cashmere Hills. Mr G. T. Booth said he thought that in view of the proceedings pending the discussion should be taken in committee, and ho moved to that effect. Mr Wood seconded this motion., Mr Sykes objected that there , was " too much going into committee." , The chairman (the Hon J. Barr): "There are sometimes very good reasons for doing so, and this is one cf them.". '-'■,-' ; !■ -' The motion to go into committee waa' carried on the casting vote of the chairman.
