WELLINGTON, August 5. R>3cently the Minister of Defence cabled to the Imperial authorities asking whether enemy, alien civilians .in-, tcrned ia the United Kingdom were compelled to do work of any kind except the "cleaning of their rooms and ordinary fatigues. The reply is that such internees arfl not obliged to do any work other thau fatigue duty connected 'with'the campr either for Health reasons or otherwise/
