WELLINGTON, August 5. R>3cently the Minister of Defence cabled to the Imperial authorities asking whether enemy, alien civilians .in-, tcrned ia the United Kingdom were compelled to do work of any kind except the "cleaning of their rooms and ordinary fatigues.
