OBSTRUCTING ARMED GUARD.

DUNEDIN, August 5.
At the Police Court to-day Robert Fraser, master mariner and assistant superintendent of mercantile marine and surveyor of ships, was charged with Obstructing an armed guard, contrary to the War Regulations. Tho evidence showed that defendant refused to show his pass when it was demanded, although he was in possession of it.' He also refused to give his name and address.. He was also alleged to have used filthv language with regard to the War Regulations. . The defence was that defendant; as a Government official, was being baited for the edification of a crowd,of men who were standing by. The Magistrate, Mr Bartholomew, held the charge proved and fined defendant £lO.
