SCHOOL COMMITTEES.
At the January meeting of the Marshland School Committee there were present Messrs D. Goode (chairman), G. Chisnall (treasurer), P Basher. W. Lange, F. Free, \\. Blank and J. Boloski. It was reported that tha school treat at the Papanui Domain had been very successful, and ther© was <i satis-j factory balance iiilhand. A communication, was read from the Education. Board dcclin-; in" to effect repairs to the footbridgo on: Preston’s Road, and tbo chairman was i directed to draft a reply. It was resolved; to apply to the Government for a £ lor £ 1 subsidy on the £l2 odd raised at a oon-i cert in aid of the school fundß. A sum 1 of £4 10s was received from the Education | Department as an additional grant to the; incidental funds for the year ending March j 31,' 1918. The teacher’s monthly report; stated that the average attendance for the', past quarter had been 134, and that tile • school, being now in Grade IV.. was entitled to an additional teacher. Tho chair- 1 loan was requested *to convoy the hearty, congratulations of the committee to Mr J. Voss, the head master, on the result* achieved at tho Sixth Standard examination k held on Decembor 7.
