WOOLSTON r. HALSWELL. A friendly match played on tho Halswelx courts on Saturday last between teams representing the Woo Is ton and Helswell Clubs resulted in a win for the visitors by 25 games. The following are tho results, Woolston players being mentioned first in each instance: — ' Combined Doubles —Miss Wood and it. Parish beat Miss Comber and C. Gardiner, 6-3; Miss Allard and L. Bosworth beat Miss Muirson and A. Mercer, 6-4; Miss Gatehouse and G. Pierce beat Miss Moyna and N. (Smith, C-4; Miss Pole and F. Pago lost to Miss Green and J. Mercer, 1-6. Men’s .Singles—E. Parish beat C.. Gardiner, 6-5- L. Bosworth beat A. Mercer. 6-5: G. Pierce boat N. Smith, 6-0; F. Pago beat J. Mercer, 6-3. ' Ladies’ Singles—Miss Wood beat Miss Comber, 6-5; Miss Allard lost to . Miss Muirson, 3-6: Miss Gatehouse beat Miss Moyna, 6-1; Miss Pole boat Miss Green. 6-1. Men’s Doubles—Parish and Bosworth beat Gardiner and A. Mercer, 9-3: Page and Pierce beat Smith and J. PAPARUA CLUB. A meeting of tho Paparua Tennis Club wcu held on the courts on Tuesday evening. Mr J. llenworthy presiding over a fair attenniliico of members. Accounts amounting to £8 3s lid were passed for payment. T tc A vote of thanks was passed to Mr J. x. Kinvrorthy for his gift of a notice Dcard’ to tho club. Votes of thanks tv©*© passed also to Mosdamos Spicer and May for work ie connection with club property. . . Tho results of the recent handicap singles tournament are as follows Spicer, Miss P. Manhiro and Mr G. M’Nally. Sympathy was expressed with Mr M Lvans, a vice-president of tho club, at the news received stating that his son Claude waa revported £i© missing in Franco, and hopes were expressed for Ilia safety and welfare.
