PERSONAL.
The Rev Dr S. J. Hoban, Superintendent of the Central Mission, Sydney, arrived in Christchurch yesterday. He will spend about a week in this city, and will preach in the Durham Street Methodist Church on Sunday. Sir James Carroll, M.P., visited Tuahiwi last night-, and addressed Maori residents on tho question of selecting a Government candidate for the Southern Maori seat. 110 returned t-o Christchurch after the meeting. Ho will leave for Tcniuka today, and will speak to Maoris there and at Puketeraki.
